Better Late Than Never, Amiright?
Anyway, it's been a month since Nintendo hosted the Final Smash Bros Direct. We finally found out who would make in as part of the final wave of DLC, and DLC will be coming in an end in February.CORRIN
At the very beginning, it was revealed that the main protagonist of Fire Emblem Fates: Corrin would be joining the fight. Like most people, I wasn't really too impressed with another Fire Emblem character joining the roster as DLC. We already have the return of Roy, which I thought was fine, but I really didn't care much for Corrin. It's nice that he/she is in the roster, and If I can give him/her credit, it that he/she has a unique play style that stands out from the other Fire Emblem Fighters like Marth, Ike, Roy and Lucina. I think Corrin's playstyle is almost as unique as Robin's, which is ironic since both Robin and Corrin are avatar characters.
I was overall meh about Corrin joining the battle, but his/her unique play style makes up for it i guess.CLOUD DETAILS
Sakurai also provided details on Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and the Midgar Stage. It's great to see Cloud join Smash Bros. Shockingly, I didn't even vote for him in the Fighter Ballot. His playstyle and moveset are great, and I also loved how his alt. is based on FFVII: Advent Children. Midgar was also a cool stage with all the different summons you can activate on the stage. What was also great was the fact that Cloud and Midgar were released hours after the Direct, along with 2 new Mii Fighter Costumes.FINAL Mii FIGHTER COSTUMES:
Alongside Cloud, We also got a Chocobo hat for Mii Fighters, and a Costume of no one special other than GENO!
I never thought I'd never see Nintendo ever acknowledge that Geno still exists, and it's great to have him represented in Smash Bros. I knew he wouldn't make it in as an actual character, but it's nice to see him represented since Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga.
We also got the final wave of Mii Fighter costumes scheduled for a February 2016 Release. This final Wave of costumes had some good choices like Takumaru and Ashley. I immediately thought of Federation Force once I saw the Bionic Armor, and I have no clue who Gil was until now, Thanks alot Namco.
However, after the Gil Costume, I completely exploded. Why?Mii FIGHTER COSTUMES OF TAILS AND KNUCKLES.
I knew Tails and Knuckles were never going to make it into Smash Bros as actual characters, and ever since they confirmed Mii Fighter costumes for DLC, I knew right from the start that Sonic characters were going to get this treatment and I was super happy about these costumes. It's nice that characters are being represented as Mii Fighter costumes, and it somehow gives players a way to still play as those characters as costumes.
So yeah, I'm really looking forward to the Tails and Knuckles Mii Costumes and Geno was also a really cool choice for a costume.THE WINNER OF THE FIGHTER BALLOT:
After the Final Mii Costumes, It was time to confirm the final new challenger in Super Smash Bros for Wii U/3DS.
The Final DLC Character and the overall winner of the Fighter Ballot is.....
Yep, Bayonetta was the winner of the Fighter Ballot. She was the #1 Choice in Europe and among the Top 5 in 'Merica. Among the negotiable and realizable characters, Bayonetta was the #1 Choice Worldwide.
I was shocked, yet excited at the same time. I never thought that Bayonetta would ever make it into Smash Bros considering how graphic, sexual and extremely violent the Bayonetta series is. At least we won't see Bayonetta completely naked when she summons deamons and fights other characters.
It's great to see Bayonetta joining Smash Bros, and It's great to have her since Nintendo had a huge impact on Bayonetta 2, because without Nintendo, the game wouldn't even exist in the first place, and Bayonetta 2 is one of the best games on the Wii U.
Oh, and The Umbra Clock Tower was a cool stage.OVERALL:
The Final Smash Bros direct was a nice way to end Smash Bros Directs, and Smash Bros 4 in general had a good DLC Run. The Characters, Stages and Mii Fighter Costumes were great (With a few exceptions, including the King K. Rool Costume) and the DLC in general didn't feel like a scam and it was very authentic in its own way since DLC development began after the game's completion. With the DLC Ending in February, I can only hope that someone else sits in the director's chair for the next Smash Bros. Sakurai really pushed himself to the limit when developing both games, and it really shows because of all the content both games have to offer, and it makes you wonder if other developers are even trying. But if anything, Sakurai should be some kind of creative consultant for the next game. He needs to step way from the Super Smash Bros series for awhile, and have someone as dedicated to the series as he is.
All i have left to say is this:
Thank you Mr. Sakurai. You brought out 2 fantastic games with a well-balanced roster, a great selection of stages, music, matchups we wouldn't even imagine. I greatly appreciate that the Super Smash Bros series exists because of Sakurai. It gathers the greatest Nintendo characters together in one place to Settle it in Smash, and there's really nothing else quite like it. I hope that all of these characters continue to make great appearances in many titles to come. and once again Mr. Sakurai, I Thank You.
